Silhouette of the Sun - Main Menu
Main Menu - Central List
Silhouette of the Sun is a Shinto-themed PC game that is set in both the mortal plane of Japan and the Heavenly Realms of Japanese folklore. Here I've constructed the Main Menu, wherefrom the player can begin a new game, load a previously saved one, adjust display settings to their own preference, as well as to get a feel for the whimsical nature of the game. We're here to meet gods and fight demons, after all.

In designing, setdressing, and lighting this 3D menu, I aimed to recreate a similar ambience to that which envelops us before the sight of old and ancient things. Some daimyo's temple, a nameless samurai's rusted katana, or even relics wielded by the kami themselves. When amidst the fog of fables and lore, we like to imagine our ancestors standing where we now stand, crafting the histories one sword stroke at a time. For us. That we, centuries and centuries hence, might read of their adventures and celebrate the lives they lived, learn from their struggles and hardships, give thanks to the world they bestowed unto us.
